Evening all-

I have been doing a little research on the Matrox Triple Head 2 Go.  I am curious to know what your thoughts are on it.  I know SoerenDK has it and he really likes his.  Are there any other impressions?  I currently have TrackIR 4 and dual monitors but wondering if the investment is worth it..

3 new monitors + T2G0 don't come cheap.  I currently have a 22" + 19" but they will have to go so the resolutions supported work out right.

Any way, let me know what your thoughts are if you have the T2Go.

Thanks

Bman.

I have the triple head2go and 3 19" monitors.  The set up is nice, but there is a definite fps impact.  You probably get about 60-75% of your usual frame rate with the triple monitor set up.  In addition you need more memory.  FSX runs at about 1.3-1.5 GB using three monitors.  This sometimes causes it to crash due to it running out of memory.  I usually notice this at large airports and cities.  I had to reduce my settings to fix this problem.  On the plus side the view is fantastic!  However, I have recently gone back to two monitors because of the above issues.  I'll probably upgrade to a 64 bit Vista OS in the future, at which point I'll try the 3 monitor set up again.

Interesting, I was under the impression that it was more a one way communication since the Matrox was only receiving output from the video card and nothing directly back to the computer.  How can it impact the FPS?

More memory hmm...

Currently I like my 22" + 19" for radios / gps etc as needed ...  Maybe I should just go for a single bigger monitor.  Heck, I could get a 32" LCD monitor for the price of 1 T2Go + 3 new monitors...

Thanks for the info.  What I really need is a try before you buy.  I have the monitors just not the matrox.  It's a pricey proposition without really know how it works out for ya-

It impacts the fps because you are displaying 3 times as many pixels.  So the cpu and gpu needs to calculate much more information.

I think the best option for FSX would be a 22 or 24 inch widescreen getting 1900x1200 (about) pixels.  The triple monitor set up gives you 3840 pixels wide.  The image gets very distored at the edges, so the left and right parts looks strange.

Ok, cool - sounds like currently my money is better spent elsewhere.

I appreciate the heads up.  I have seen some screenshots that were way stretched out at the bottom.

If you want to see something really cool see if you can find a DLP Projector and try that. If you don't like it you can always send or take it back. I use one with a 6 x 4 Ft screen along with a little 17in monitor. (You can use a white wall) I use the monitor for gauges and such and the projector for everything else. One day I'll get my mess cleaned up and take some shots.

Did someone say DLP?

Alienware fancy-pants curved monitor (four DLP projections on one curved screen)

shown at CES, this year.  Google around for more about it...
