It is the latest scenery release by Earth Simulations, Guernsey/Sark & Herm, 3 of the islands which make up part of the Channel Islands in the UK near the French coast. I very rarely get excited or rave about any of the latest FSX addon releases but this is something special, something extraordinary. In my time I have used many excellent scenery addons, from the likes of Orbx/Megascenery X/Horizon VFR/AS Germany VFR/NL2000v4/Blue Sky Scenery etc. Many are excellent and do a really good job of depicting the area they cover but now something has arrived which takes scenery realism/detail and accuracy to a whole new level, Earth Simulation's Guernsey. Combining high resolution photoreal imaging, highly detailed water masking, complex mesh depicting shearing cliffs and sloping hills and hand made/hand placed custom made 3D autogen showing every structure, building, house, tree and bush! Not only that, the scenery comes in 5 different seasons (winter & hard winter) which shows off the amazing transformation of the landscape during each season.

After spending several hours flying and exploring this scenery I can say with full confidence that this scenery is the most realistic depiction of an area I have ever seen in FSX. In my humble opinion it is 'The Best' scenery to date for FSX, full stop. ES's Guernsey scenery is the equivalent of what PMDG's 737NGX means to all aircraft releases that have come before it, it is in a class of its own!

I have made a small compilation of shots to try and show you, the viewer, why I'm raving about this scenery. The shots will hopefully convey and confirm what I have been saying so far, even I feel that my screen shots do not do this amazing scenery justice! I hope in time I can fully explore and grasp this entire scenery and show you more & better shots in the future. But for now do please enjoy a small selection of shots taken from a batch which can be fully viewed  HERE

Enjoy and as always, all shots are unedited apart from resized & JPG'd.

The largest island, Jersey, will also be eventually covered by ES.

I really do hope you enjoyed the view and one more thing, get this scenery... now!
(note: at the time of writing this post, ES took down their store on their website for some upgrades & changes, so give it a few days if you cannot purchases it now.)

Got this from another forum:

Quote

mutleyshangar.com[/url]]
Needles: ES have pulled Guernsey from their store site for now due to several buyers were experiencing CTDs while trying to run Guernsey on their sim. In order not to have other folks buy the product and then go through the frustration of having it crash on them, ES decided to pull the release until all major problems are addressed. With some luck, the product should be re-released either at the end of today or sometime tomorrow, if not, very soon after that. Believe me, it is worth the wait

The scenery without doubt belongs to the finest gems what you can get for fsx grahically(screenshot website).

BUT!!!
Bought it and the propblems started. :( :thumbsupguy:

You cannot really download the scenery as they make you believe on their website. All you download and save to your desktop is a 1,6MB installer file that ennables  you to connect to their server that loads the files to a Earthsim directory in an inscrutable chaotic order.

You don't get "ONE .RAR. OR .ZIP" file that you can save on your computer for future installations. Instead everytime you have a problem you have to CONNECT TO THEIR SERVER and from there you can try to repair or deinstall the files completely. :hrmm:  :(

Having downloaded for 4 hours the simulator crashed when trying to load their scenery.(I/920@3,8/ATI 5870,6GB Win7)

Testing other locations than Guernsey the simulator crashed, too. Not a single flight was possible anymore. Deactivated the scenery in the library leeded to a crash, too.

Completely reinstalled Guernsey, the simulator worked again ,but now several items did not work any more. Having Problems with ENbseries ,limiter and suddenly appearing black triangles.  :P  B)

To me it looks like they go deep in the structure of fsx and mess several important files that even after a COMPLETE REINSTLL are not in the same condition as BEFORE.  B)

If I wanted to install it another time I would have to load it again for 4 hours knowing that not one issue is resolved that crashes the simulator. :(

I understand that developers have to protect their work but this is just ridiculous and extremely annoying. Would have been better

to loose some software to thiefs than completely ruinning the relationship  :thumbsupguy:  :thumbsupguy:

between the paying customer and the seller.
 I will never buy a product from them again.

By the way costs more than a MEGA AIRPORT .About 31 Euros. Not inexpensive.  :thumbsupguy:

member1, I had a very similar problem to yourself, except my issue was when i downloaded and installed the "Isles of Scilly" package it completely wiped out my FSX install (Fresh install) and i couldnt start FSX as was getting terrain.dll errors constantly on loading, this has stopped me from buying the Guernsey scenery as its not just happening to myself it seems.

Thanks folks, as always, you comments are welcome and your praise is appreciated.

This scenery is now fully available and can be gotten at Earth Simulations.

There were some problems at the start of the release, but which new product hasn't, but they are now sorted and it should work perfectly if you read the install instructions carefully. Sorry about the above folks having trouble with it, I do know you need to follow & read the install instructions (for one, you need to ensure if you have any FTX scenery that you have to default FSX scenery before installing any ES scenery as they will conflict during install). They have a very good response in their support forums, so if you have problems, they are very helpful. Also, their scenery will not mess up your FSX as described above, it might mess up the scenery are trying to DL from them (if it did not DL properly) or some of their older scenery, which you will need to re-DL in order to maintain compatibility. So for any scaremongering about wiping out your FSX install is completely unfounded, unless your FSX is already severely compromised or messed up!

Make sure you read the ES forums about the Guernsey scenery and older installed scenery, AFAIK its best to uninstall the old scenery with the older installer, then re-DL and reinstall the new and old scenery with latest installer.
