Hi. Long time reader, first time poster.

I found this in a fitness forum.

A guy, 22, wants to have sex with a girl who's 16. I'm the dad of a 1 year old daughter. I am worried about her enough as it is, but I cant think of how much I'd worry about this if this was my daughter. I'm angry about this guy doing this, am I right to be angry? What would you do if your daughter was in this situation?

(to make things equal, you can read the 22 year old guys side on his blog, http://www.becominga...-a-16-year-old/ )

Nothing wrong with 16. Even though it's the law. You obviously have the right to be concerned, but don't have any right to be angry. I think 16 is an ok age for consent, in many forward looking countries its ok. Remember human beings are biologically geared for sexual reproduction from puberty.

The guy who wrote that is a complete a-hole. Even if he was 16 you would still have the right to be angry. I hope he gets arrested for statutory rape.

Guys like this give all men a bad name.

In this case it's sickening. But Say, if I was the father of the girl. And the 22 year old man was a nice man, and I trusted him. tbh, I'd let them have a relationship. But I probably wouldn't be the happiest dad because of it  I think this whole age thing is abit of a confuso

First -- the Legality.  Depends on which country, or which state.  16 is the world-wide average age for a female to consent to sex; if you look at the individual United States, in some states it's as low as 15 and as high as 18.

Second -- the Paternal.  I have two girls (both grown) and understand your concern; I had it, too, twice.     But there's one thing you're going to have to accept -- you can't control when they decide to have sex.  The BEST you can do is educate them, give them values and morals, and PRAY they don't screw up their lives.  I was lucky, twice; if you do it right, you can be lucky, too.  But you're going to have to invest in your daughter ..... she may not like tossing the pigskin around, so you're going to have to drive her to band practice, dance class, and actually go to the recitals and performances.  Even if means hopping the red-eye from wherever you are and hopping it to go back right after she finishes.  It's work, but the payoff is fantastic!

I just have one question about the age difference -- what kind of LOSER 22-year-old can't pick up a 22-year-old woman? or a 20-year-old? or an 18-year-old?  What the   is so screwed up about him that he has to look for someone 6 years younger than he is?  Gotta be something, or those 18 - 22 year old women would be trying to hook-up with him .....  :censored:

Well its funny you ask this question, but since when was it about moral values in some places around the world? There are countries in numerous European regions and States in numerous N. American regions which don't preach men and women to have sex AFTER they legally bind in marriage. You see those type of men and women always having sex, then breaking up, etc. So if its in the view of moral values, I don't think it matters much if a 22 yr old man has sex with a 16 yr old woman. If both agree to it, much like the standards of many sexual intercourses in that part of the world, then whos stopping 'ya? As for the woman reaching puberty, most women reach puberty in the age of 14 so I don't think 16 is a problem.

If they both like eacher, they both have the right to do it. And they are both within the legal age limit.

But it's ok for 40 year olds to go out with 34 year olds?

It's perfectly legal, just, and i don't think we have to care or be angry. I'm sure there are many 16 year olds going out with people older and no doubt the majority are happy and our being respected by there older man or woman.  I am also pretty  sure there are many 40 year olds married to 34 year old who met when they were younger. People shouldn't get angry over this.

i don't believe you have a right to be angry TBH. Thier decisions (although as stupid as they seem) are up to the people that make them. personally, being at the age where i NEED to get laid before i start college (for obvious recreational, physical, social and expieriencial needs  i KNOW you've seen superbad ), sex is a natural thing, we were meant to reproduce from 15 onwards. the american indians got it on at the age of 12,britons around the 15 mark (then dumping thier children in nursery's and not seeing them until they wed). but as i said earlier, its up to the people who do it,not those around them.

Exactly, it's their choice and they have the right do what they want together unless it's forced. People don't have a right to be angry over other peoples relationships even though how strange it may seem.

theres some stunning, mature looking 16 year old's in the world. If she was mentally mature aswell then i find it acceptable for them to have a relationship. some 16 year olds here are infinitately more mature that some of the 22 year olds ive met / seen on youtube skating over ice and cracking their heads open

Like it or not, things change as you get older.  Just the way of the world ..... come back when you reach 40 and tell me you still have the same likes, dislikes, habits, values, and interests you do now.

Uh-huh, except in those states where the age of consent is 17 or 18.

Yep; some guys married girls that were only 13 at the time.  Now it's called statutory rape and pedophilia .... like I said, things change over time.

So long as they haven't broke the law and they were both 100% willing and wanting to do it then I have no problem with it.

If it were my kid I would be happy so long as I thought my girl was mature and sensible enough.

No I'm not angry, because it is legal, and s long as he does not rape her, and they're both willing, it's ok...

Had the girl been my kid, however, I'd knock the guy the  out!

It's no problem as long as the girl wants to have sex with him, too.
