Welcome!

Here it is! In this thread i will be announcing and reminding all potential winners when contests start and stop. We have so many talented video artists here on this forum alone, it should prove to be extremely interesting.

Valkyrie321 has been most excellent in agreeing to provide prizes for each contest.

So,

The contests will run 4 times a year.

The only contest to be held this year, 2008 will be:

Contest #4 2008

October 1st - January 1st 2009 will be the time to create the video and upload to youtube.

The first 20 days of January will then be given for voting on the videos.

There is no theme for this contest.
Go nuts!
There is no time limit for the videos either, but they must be short enough to be able to upload to youtube

This will be the 2009/2010 Schedule

Contest #1

January 1st 2009 - April 1st 2009 will be the time to create the video and upload to youtube.

The first 20 days of April will then be given for voting on the videos.

Contest #2

April 1st 2009 - July 1st 2009 will be the time to create the video and upload to youtube.

The first 20 days of July will then be given for voting on the videos.

Contest #3

July 1st 2009 - October 1st 2009 will be the time to create the video and upload to youtube.

The first 20 days of October will then be given for voting on the videos.

Contest #4

October 1st 2009 - January 1st 2010 will be the time to create the video and upload to youtube.

The first 20 days of January will then be given for voting on the videos.

So i will up date this thread with the necessary information for you all to compete!

Also, for those that may want help,

Visit this thread for tips on recording and making flight sim videos.

---

Although it says don't use fraps, these days Fraps is the best for recording videos.

There is a demo that is easy to use. And Available Here

---

Since the demo version gives you the fraps logo at the top of all the videos, you might want to look into trying the Sony Vegas Demo.

Its the best editing software for flight sim videos out there.

Get the demos here

They give you 30 day free trials each and there are three to try. So until you buy Vegas these will work for you. Or just use Windows Movie Maker program which is default on all Windows machines.

Sony Vegas can be hard to understand at the start, but there are plenty of tutorials on the web and i would be willing to help with any problems if you do encounter them with Vegas.

So thats it! Its up to you guys now to make the videos!!

Nice but.. aren't video contests and stuff usually anonymous to protect against personal problems affecting votes? Weren't videos hosted anonymously by Rapidshare or Mega Upload? :hrmm:

I would prefer a fileshare site as opposed to YouTube so videos can be watched with best quality. :hrmm:

This is true, if you think this is better i can create an account on youtube where i am sent all the entries via file share then i up load them for an anonymous vote.

Is that ok?

Or i see how you mean now.

I think if would be easier for viewing on youtube if some people have a slow connection for the downloads

Ok, what could happen is every contestant sends you a link to their video via a fileshare site, and you put them on a contest channel on Youtube, and when submissions are in you can offer both YT and HQ links in the thread :hrmm:  That way people with good internet can view original video files and those with slower connections can use the Youtube option

If ya do it like that I'm sure lots of people (including myself) would be happy to join :hrmm:

i better make a post making this more clear.

For the Contest #4, October 1st - January 1st 2008

The videos will be anonymous. Meaning that you do not put any name in your video so that all voting can be done anonymously and no advantage or disadvantage is given to any certain user.

When you send me your video via a Fileshare site, you will PM me telling me that its your video so i can record in notepad and be able to tell the winner.

--

Yep and by that i will not be entering the contest

This looks like a very interesting contest. Count me in as well!  :hrmm:

Also the idea with the anonymous entry is very appealing. That way reputation does not count at all. Very good idea! :hrmm: It will make "new ones" like me enter the contest, because chances are equal.

Quick question- why can't the competition be made 'official'?
