The airport itself is quite dull, unfortunately.
I thought you were gonna stay in Doha for at least one night. Then its possibe to enjoy the place.
Unless youre traveling by first class on Qatar Airways, you won't enjoy the airport terminal. The first class passengers have their own building to themselves, which is a million times better than the main airport building.
When I was in the main airport building, there wasnt even enough space to sit down.
Go to the second floor and walk all the way down the hall.
When you go up the escalators (theres only one set), immediately take left and go down the hall. Then in the right hand side youll see restaurants and cafes. In the opposite corner is a nice quiet sleeping room, where you can lay down and relax.
The duty free sucks, Im afraid.

Qatar is only fun for 2 things: 1. The airline, 2. The city.
Im afraid the airport isnt that good.

I wonder, are transit passengers able to exit the airport and re-enter again when it is time for the next flight? In Singapore, transit passengers on Singapore Airlines are given a complimentary city tour of about an hour. I am rather excited about travelling by Qatar Airways. I have heard that it is really good. Only thing is that the meal portions have shruk for cost cutting purposes in the midst of the economic recession last year. My flight from Singapore to Doha will be on the B777-300ER which I have heard was delivered to the airline in October 2009. Very new aircraft. I will be travelling by Economy.

If the wait is long, Im sure you can exit the airport and then reenter.
But make sure you reenter before the check-in counter closes.
To be on the safe side, make sure you ask the people in Qatar Airways or the airport people.
If you have enough time to leave the airport, travel around the city and come back, then its probably worth it.
At least you get to see the sights of Doha, etc. And maybe you can have a nice snack in a cafe, in City Centre or Villagio.
But make sure you have enough time. If you don't, then don't take the risk. In that case you might have to do only with whats available in the airport.
Maybe it has changed since the last time Ive been there.

Had an equipment change on my outbound leg, A346 is now A342.  :hrmm:  Very annoying, as now I have no IFE and the older product, not to mention it's a worse aeroplane (IMO).

I'd appreciate the variety! (assuming I hadn't flown on the A342 before!)

Variety is good I suppose, but having flown on them before and not really having been impressed....oh well, I'll still be flying :hrmm:

Well, we've confirmed that we are going to the Chicago Auto Show in February! :hrmm:
We'll be flying standby but these are the flights we will probably be on.

February 13th, 2010
TPA-ATL on DL2058 757-200
ATL-ORD on DL903 CRJ-900

February 14th, 2010
MDW-ATL on DL5515 CRJ-900
ATL-TPA on DL2077 757-200

Depending on how long we want to be at the show, the flights home will probably change. We can either go to DTW or ATL and leave out of either ORD or MDW. I doubt if we'll be on those last two flights.

Just booked last night:

(LS391) LBA - BGY | Jet2 737-300
(LS344) VCE - LBA | Jet2 737-300

I'm assuming it'll be a 733, I'd love a 757-200, it'd be a first for me! Already flown on a 737-300 several times anyway...

I'm planning on a SAV-CLT-SDF coming up early next month, US Airways again..  not sure on the date though.

Most likely EMB175 SAV-CLT and then a CRJ900 from CLT-SDF

It'll be 733's mate.
