Yeah well... I honestly hope they have casual modes for us too. I never took flight simulator seriously anyway. My favorite thing was flying around the Gulf and pretending I was somehow running away from my pathetic life.

What I was thinking was something along the lines of two separate platforms. One platform could have the basic arcade style and the other could have better physics. That way, if you want something arcadish you would go for that style and the same applies for the pedantic simmers.

Alternatively, the user could simply use a slider or dial to turn up or down the realism. Much like the way it's done in FSX. But more like: "Turn dial left for more arcade, turn right for more realism", you know?

It would be easier and more customizable than just two set platforms.

Yeah, but it would cost a heck of alot more for that single platform and take more time to develop.

And it wouldn't cost more to have two totally separate platforms? :hrmm:

I'm just suggesting that the arcade side of the dial might have auto landing gear, auto flaps, auto mixture, turn speed, etc...

Not really. If you're after arcadish then it's superfluous to have realism settings in the same platform. Plus, incorporating both into one sim never works. Just look at FS9 and FSX.

Sort of like what Mohammad was saying, it's great to use our imaginations in FS to believe that we've escaped to a far away land.

Not sure that everyone wants that from a flight sim. if you want that, go play World of Warcraft :hrmm:

I just want the realism and some sexy graphics

Abacus is to realism as Super Mario Bros is to realism.

I don't think you understood the meaning behind it.

It's not about breaking realism or making up something stupid and sci-fi like WoW (god I hate sci-fi), it's about the greater meaning of flight. The concept of traveling around the world and roaming the Earth. That by itself should be the sole purpose for this game, in my opinion.

Sounds like you need something similar to WoW!
