Yup, I have gone back to a GTX 460 768MB after having used the Radeon 6870 for about two weeks now.  The card was great and it was actually the fastest GPU I've ever had the chance to use.  BUT the big downfall was that folding@Home performance is around 4,000 PPD & FSX ran very poor.  While I got the best IQ (Anti-Aliasing was no issue anymore), performance really lacked in FSX due to how the game is coded.

So yeah I'm back to the folding force!  Received the new card (MSI TwinFrozr II 768MB) yesterday and already folding strong!  Screenshot below showing card running at 855MHz core / 1710MHz shaders on default volts @ 40% fanspeed.  50*C has been the highest I've seen the card running while folding.  The 55*C max temp Afterburner is recording was from running Kombustor 24 hours prior.

I'm guessing 16K after volt increase and max overclock!  :hrmm:

As I expected....very happy with my new purchase! $135  :hrmm:
Edit: Not final overclock yet.  I will push to the maximum 1.087v in Afterburner & then possibly flash the BIOS of the card to get a 1.22v limit.  Safely I can probably only use about 1.12v 24/7 but I can't imagine how high this card must go if I squeeze a little 1.22v bench run!  :hrmm:

Very nice work there.

Sorry to hear about FSX performance. It's a shame as the HD 6870 was considerably better than the specifications ever suggested. With the price drops in full swing however, the GTX 460 truly is the new 8800GT

Thanks Mul.  I've managed to top the card out at 930/2050 with the voltage limit in Afterburner; very pleased with the card.  It really was a shame that the 6870 didn't perform well in FSX as the Anti-Aliasing was nothing short of brilliant but what good is that when i'm flying around with 25FPS in the sky (which is fine) and then under 10 when approaching a larger airport!  That's with absolutely zero traffic enabled as well.  I tried the "Jesus" mod which supposedly gives ATI users a massive increase in performance but it did absolutely nothing for the 6870.

In other games like F1 2010 and Crysis the 6870 outperforms the 460 by quite a margin.  I can manage smooth gameplay at 1080p w/8xAA whereas the GTX 460 can barely manage 4x AA sometimes (I'm guessing this is due to the 192-bit, 768MB memory).

All in all the 6870 would have been the card to keep for me, but the fact that folding@Home is next to useless on it, and the low performance in FSX is what made me purchase the GTX 460 again, although I am kicking myself in the butt for not going with the 1GB edition!
