I've finally started folding again on my new hardware.  I'm still finalizing the 24/7 settings on this new build but for now here's a quick screenshot of the PPD from just the i5-2500K at 4.5GHz with RAM speed at DDR3-2133 9-10-8-28 1T.  Increasing the RAM speed gave me roughly 1000 more points compared to DDR3-1866 8-9-8-24 1T and over 2000 points from the default DDR3-1600 7-8-7-24 1T!

I don't see a screenshot Toby, what are you getting for ppd's with the rig? Glad to see you are back up and running again! Welcome back.

20,300 PPD running SMP 2 client with 2500K at 4.5GHz.  That's CPU only.  Still waiting on the delivery of my GTX 460 1GB; should add another 10K PPD easy!

I do see the screen now, by the way that is a good job on the points. Here is a screen of my set-up.

Very nice Toby! Glad to see your rig back up and folding. Any pics of the Sandy Bridge Rig itself? What do you think about the H60?

Wow Jon, 58,000 PPD!  Now how come KakaoStats only shows you averaging around 30K?  :hrmm:

fighter - Good to be back up and running.  I've got a thread about the build in the Tech section, here's a link: 2500K Build Thread I haven't updated it in a few days, still waiting on my GTX 460 to arrive.  I bought it on eBay April 6th and the guy still hasn't shipped it.  I got it for $130 shipped which is a steal in my book!  Just hope I receive it by weeks end.

The H60 cooler is actually not performing as well as I hoped.  I will be re-seating the block in the near future since temps are quite high.  At 4.6GHz I'm flirting with 80*C at only 1.26v so something is definitely not right.  The install for the H60 block was not very easy at all and I'm thinking that the block might not be sitting flat on the chip.  Just hope that the thermal paste I've got (3-year old Tuniq TX-2) will still be alright to use!

Hmm..That doesn't sound good. Make sure the fan header that the pump is connected to is running at max power and doesn't have any fan control on. I saw a review of the H50 in which that was a problem and caused some temp problems.
I'm looking at one of these all-in-one liquid coolers. Either the H60, H70, or the Antec H2O 620 or 920. Right now it seems to be H50<H60=620<H70<920. So I'm trying to do some research on these. They are made all by the same company, except for the H60 which I believe is made by CoolIt and not Astek.

Nice. This has all the makings of a great rig...of course the real test will be how well it performs on fsx with high sliders. Any chance of a screenshot or a video of the fps?

Yeah the pump is running at 100%, it was one of the first things I checked.  I still believe the block isn't seated correctly on the chip so I will probably re-apply it sometime soon.  If you're in the market for liquid-cooling, I would strongly take a look at this unit - http://www.frozencpu...t_Hot_Item.html

It's a full on water-cooling system which will outperform any of the H50,H60,H70 coolers.  I wish I had gotten it instead of the H60 but at the time I did not want to spend that much on cooling.  Sure it's a bit more expensive than the Corsair/Asetek or CoolIt lineup but it's also in a entirely different league.

I've looked at those, but I don't know if I want to go that route, because I'd have to find a way to internally mount it all in my NZXT Vulcan, so when I move it, and I move it to a different house every Sunday, I don't knock a hose off the radiator or cause a hose to get loose from a barb inside. Plus I'd have to get another pump and reservoir, since I only have two 5.25 bays and they are both occupied.
We'll see. I'll probably end up getting that kit or this one- http://www.performan...oducts_id=30280
If I go custom water cooling, I'm expecting at least 4.2 from my 920. I was there when I could fit my Megahalems in my case, but when I switched to the Vulcan I had to go to a smaller 92mm cooler, and some loud, high CFM fans to get to 4.0GHz.

Good news today!  Figured out why my temps were so high and discovered that the block was not seated/tightened all the way down.  Here are the before and after results at 4500MHz at 1.27v -

10 mins. Folding@Home
Core 0: 62
Core 1: 67
Core 2: 71
Core 3: 64

20 mins. OCCT Linpack
Core 0: 67
Core 1: 75
Core 2: 79
Core 3: 73

After Tightening of Block

10 mins. Folding@Home
Core 0: 52
Core 1: 52
Core 2: 53
Core 3: 46

20 mins. OCCT Linpack
Core 0: 55
Core 1: 57
Core 2: 60
Core 3: 52

5000Mhz here I come  :hrmm:

Got it up to 5200 last night but it wouldn't run more than 2 minutes of OCCT Linpack at 1.45v.  Passed some tests like 3DMark06 & SuperPi so I will try and see if I can find out the max frequency of this chip.  I've booted at 5.4 but it froze on the Windows welcome screen.  Currently at 4700MHz at 1.28v.
