Here's more screenshots showcasing Kevin Grimm's tweaks. Most of these are tweaks of MSFS scenery conversions. None of these shots are edited. Really shows what XP 10 is capable of IMO.

Mesh is easy to make.  Converting it is one thing, but I don't recall FSX looking ANYTHING like this.
Just goes to show what a different platform is capable of.

How do you convert scenery from FSX to work in XPlane10?

This is mostly converted stuff. Going to be some awesome XPlane scenery developments coming up! Keep your eyes out!  :hrmm:

Wait...So this isn't X-Plane 10 out of the box?

How long does it take to convert? And what's the performance hit like?

So imagine what X-plane could be if this were xplane9.com not fs2004.com, and the community embraced xplane over MSFW!

Takes about a minute to convert and the performance hit is pretty much zero.  Depends how many textures are used.  Polygons in 3D mesh don't matter in X Plane.  Textures do.

Thank you AirX.  I got it downloaded and will have to start converting.

Not sure if this is what you are asking, but I'm pretty sure the scenery in the photos is Fly Tampa Hong Kong Kai-Tak.  I have it for FSX, it's very nice scenery, but covers a fairly small area. (Edit: at least the first 3 shots were)

In terms of animations, do they animations in say FT TNCM for FS, work in X-Plane?

Are those real reflections on the SQ 744 and is there an actual heat shimmer coming out of those engines? With your system setup, is that max on the sliders and what are your fps? My system is a few years old and I am really thinking about converting back to X-plane...I tried the demo and could barely even fly with sliders medium.

the heat shimmer and reflections are a result of HDR being turned on in the sim.

These pictures give me a lot of hope with X-Plane 10 because I have not got to this point yet, but now I know what's possible.  Since I've been in FSX so long, I've got it looking pretty good.  I'm sure if I put some more time in XP10, I'll have it looking good too.

What cities are in X Plane?

UI don't want to fly a landscape full of runways but no cities.
