Here's a thread to discuss everything about the upcoming Alaskan Wilderness DLC.
To recap, it was supposed to be released in Spring but it was delayed. It looks like it's coming out soon.
Here are all the Alaska pictures Microsoft has released so far:
https://news.microso...-to-alaska.aspx
https://news.microso...-in-alaska.aspx
https://news.microso...creenshots.aspx
https://news.microso...-at-alaska.aspx (new)
And here are the notes of the patch that will come with the release of the DLC:
https://news.microso...atch-notes.aspx
Feel free to say anything about it and discuss.

The patch with the TrackIR support has already been released and it has obviously prepared Flight for Alaska.
But look at this: https://news.microso...-in-alaska.aspx
It says it will come with the Carbon Cub. But it's the basic version of it, which means it's going to be cockpitless.

it's out........ and.............. amazingly it's only $15. also i already re installed flight a couple days ago..... one, to see if anything had changed and two, in hopes that alaska was going to be good. unfortunately it apparently only comes with a basic version of the carbon cub. that is still.. somewhat stupid. they had plenty of time to work on it.. should have come with a full turboprop. though i would suspect there's one on the way.. i don't have it yet and won't until later today but at $15... id say it's probably actually worth it, especially since it's all of alaska and over 600 new airports (how detailed they are idk) even so, that's a lot of flying area. this gives me a lot of hope actually.. i'm glad i was wrong about it, especially the price. i'm a lot more willing to gamble $15 than $40.
also... as of the latest title update, all the ground textures now actually load.. and load fast. which makes for a much nicer experience. and loading in general is much faster as well.
*now just hoping they add more sim aspects.. or even just autogen traffic.. everything still seems so lonely.

you all know how much i dislike flight..........
bought Alaska (again only $15 so what the heck)
here's my short review of it....... AWESOME
honestly.. it really is. is it enough to change my mostly negative overview of flight... no. but it's a huge step in the right direction. i've been flying around for 3 hours now looking for things to dislike and nit pick... i really can't find anything. textures are superb, details across the entire state even at extreme remote airfields are all there.. and for anyone who says orbx is still better.... with hawaii yes orbx is better, with alaska.... more than likely not. the challenges are better also (there are no missions or aerocaches yet i assume they will come later). there's a lot more to explore.. no getting bored after 20 mins.
there's still a ways to go before this could be really good... AI, ATC, some good planes with cockpits.... the marketing still sucks, and they still need to open it up to 3rd parties
but with alaska... i now have hope.

Flight's future doesn't seem that bright. The only thing that saved Alaska was the low price, but then, lots of people are complaining and turning against Flight.
Microsoft have to be really careful in the future.

Tried to 'purchase' Alaska. All I get is this cryptic message: 'Downloading content... Try again later.'
Huh?

it's almost 1.5 gb download... it's better to down load it in the games for windows marketplace app. there are 7 separate downloads.. you need all of them to run alaska.
