Gosh! This has been up on an own topic before, and still very many people doesn't know how to do it.
Im gonna tell you the way I do it, because there are many ways.

The first step is the same everywhere. Open PS and the picture you want to add grass to.
Select the brush tool like this

Now you've got the correct brush.
Select the colours of the grass. I use to pick one dark green and one dark brown.
Decide what size you want to have on the brush, and then paint! Not to high opacity though...
Now you have a picture with alot of green grass, but no grass is totally green. Think about what season it is. If it's summer, the grass is very green, but if it's spring or autumn, you will need to add some other colours.
When I do that, I create a new layer with "Multiply" checked.
Then you paint a little over the grass you painted before, and now, youäve got some more realistic grass.

This is the way I do, but you need to get the right colours and size of the grass to make it look realistic. Look at real photos, and pick those colours.

Cheers

Press D then  click on the two squares which now should be black and white, and change the colour to a dark green and another ligher green. Hope this helps.

Thanks,
