Here are a few tips for posting or requesting tech assistance in the Tech Section. Following these little tips will enable members to get the correct, and a more complete, response back to you faster. It will hopefully also cut down on the number of repeat or overly vague questions.

1. Search. Take advantage of the Forum's search tool and see if your topic is already covered, it is possible your question has already been asked and answered. By all means if it hasn't, or if the answer doesn't help you, feel free to ask.

2. Provide a complete list of the major componants in your rig. This should include Manufacturer and model (if it is a canned system such as Dell or HP), CPU (processor), Motherboard (model and revision), Ram (manufacturer, speed, and amount), PSU (Power Supply) manufacturer and rating, Video Card and driver version, HDD (Hard Drive). If applicable also include tempuratures and recent hardware/software changes. Also include a note if your CPU or GPU is OC'd (Overclocked) and to what speeds. One of the easiest ways to comply with this request is to simply DL this app and post screen shots of the different tabs.

3. If you think your post is related to building/buying a new computer or upgrading what you have, please state a budget.

4. Check back frequently but be patient, someone will get to your question soon enough. If your issue is resolved without the direct assistance of our folks here, please post what the fix was so others may learn from it.

Credit goes to Scavers for proposing this little guide and providing some of the content.
