If you learn anything from this, make sure you check the Flightplan you've entered before you take off. Turn the ND mode selector to PLN and step through the LEGS page in the FMC. Close any Disco. and recheck until you're happy.
I do it at least twice before take off, once on programming and secondly on taxi out.

Jet_blue would I be correct in saying you are a beginner with the 747 and the FMC programming? If so, why would you fly a 6 hour flight??? :D

You should practice on short hops. (450-650nm)

Vlad, i know how to use the FMC and everything, I just thought it was odd that i couldnt delete the discontinuity, Ive never had that problem before, I al farely new to the PMDG 744 though, Ive used the FMC in the 737 NG though with no problems.

It should work when you click on the LSK just after the Discontinuity and then click on the LSK next to the Disco. If it doesn't work, then look for another PVD entry after passing PVD. This sometimes happens if you have a duplicate entry in the FMC.

If you come into problems again, a Screenshot always helps.

I've found removing Discontinualitys are sometimes different (Maybe more realistic?) Than what I'm used to.
