What has the buffersize in the fsx.cfg to do with the textures in your scenery map?

I have (had) the same problem, I only converted 10-15 files a time, otherwise it crash to desktop. I've been working on it for 2 hours   . But my FPS went up   . I installed the tree tweak before so the ...veg....dds files where always crashing. So I just didn't convert them.

evertime when i try pressing convert, everything just minimizes and closes out.
Okay then don't select everything at once. Select and convert about a quarter of the files at a time. That's what I had to do, though it was something unique to my computer.
increasing the Buffer Size in the options will solve this problem. i made mine 1000000, and processed all the files at once.

So let me get this straight:

- The Output folder should not be the [C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Scenery\Global\Texture] Right ? Because I think made that mistake.

- we should also check the  [ save "alpha" if any ] box in options ?

- once we convert the dds to bmp ( which all goes into a new folder that we made for it) we copy and paste those to the Global-texture ?

Does this make any sense ? Thanks for the Help/Clarification

forget all that. use the batch files at this site instead. scroll down to "textures".

:hrmm:  Every BMP to DDS program I have flips the picture upside down.  Have no idea why but my solution is just to
flip the BMP upside down before converting it.  If you have a bmp upside down, use any art program to flip it back.
It takes a little time but big deal.

That's because ACES used Imagetool.  Imagetool flips the image so it makes repainting aircraft and such easier because you don't have to worry about flipping the image.  Use Imagetool (found in the FSX SDK).  Much better tool than DXTbmp, or others.

Would using the autogen tweak and turning autogen off in the sim amount to the same frame rate increase as converting all the dds files?

I have the same problem with the grayed out convert button. I tried with DDS Converter Versions 2.0 and 2.1 (Run as Admin), selected an output-folder (tried many different ones), but it doesn't work...
OS ist Vista Ultimate 32 bit
thx!

I know this sounds dumb, but you'd be surprised at how many people make mistakes like this :hrmm:

1) Did you select an input file?
2) Do you have the right output format selected?
3) Do you have the correct input format selected?

My DDS converter won't let me click the convert button when i have the textures selected. Is there another program other than DXTBmp which only lets you select one at a time.
