Pros: Energy efficient, great processing speeds*, low temp
Cons: Can be pricey depending on which variant you purchase

Very good processor series, great power, uses less energy, lower heat give-off. A MUST BUY!!!!

So get rid of those P4 as soon as you can. E6300 and E6600 great for OC'ing and for gaming.

Pros: Silly fast, cool, and low power use.
Cons: Poor quality IHS.

I'm running an E6600 (2.4Ghx) at 40*C idle with speed-stepping on. And at load it will bench quicker than an Athlon FX-62.

Pros: Powerful, much less heat than expected!
Cons: Price

I have the C2D X6800, and it's a great CPU, very powerful, and runs pretty cool for what it offers!

Although it does come at a price...

Pros: Speedy, Easy to OC, Better than rival AMD series
Cons:

A brilliant processor, keeps me going in FSX. However, need to upgrade my GPU for some real speed.

Pros: Fast efficient CPU with low voltage reqs and minimal temps
Cons: I can't really say there is any

My experience is with the Wolfdale E8600 which is a Core 2 Duo 3.0 GHz. It's the top of the Core 2 Duo CPU before getting into the next bracket which is the Core 2 Quad CPU and the even more powerful Core 2 Extreme. I've been running my CPU on an Intel DX38BT mother board, which is itself designed to take the extreme series CPU, and I've been loving it. For the price it really can't be beat by anything else on the market.
