NASHVILLE DOWNTOWN SCENERY FOR FS9

VERY IMPORTANT: Follow these instructions closely, or the scenery may not look right. This scenery was designed to work with Ultimate Terrain USA, and FS Genesis Mesh, because these two addons create a much more realistic environment, and UT USA makes the Cumberland River the right size and the right location. I was originally going to release the scenery in this form only, but I decided to do a few minor alterations to the Gateway Bridge and the Coliseum so that users without FS Genesis or UT USA could have a more realistic Nashville experience. When you install the scenery, you will find a folder named "Alternate Scenery Files" in the main folder. Inside that folder are four sub-folders with 3 files for users who have Ultimate Terrain, FS Genesis Mesh, Neither, or Both installed.

INSTALLATION:

1. Copy the Downtown Nashville Scenery folder to your Addon Scenery folder in FS9.
2. Open the "Alternate Scenery" folder and pick the option that applies to you:
a. If you have FS Genesis Mesh, open the "Scenery_FSG" folder, copy the 3 BGL files inside and paste them into the Downtown Nashville\Scenery folder (overwrite the old files).
b. If you have UT USA, copy the files from the "Scenery_UT" folder into the main scenery folder.
c. If you have both FS Genesis and Ultimate Terrain, use the files in the "Scenery_FSG and UT" folder. I've also included the files for a default FS9 setup as a backup in case you ever need them.
3. Add the scenery in the scenery library.

The scenery comes standard with 32 bit uncompressed textures. I haven't noticed a performance hit, but if you do, you can use the alternate DXT1 textures. They look nice - just not quite as crisp. Simply copy the DXT1 textures into the Texture folder, overwriting the the old textures (be sure to back them up first).

MISCELLANEOUS:

The scenery was created using Gmax and contains about 23 custom buildings, including the famous Bellsouth Building (also known as the "Bat Building"), the Tennessee State Capitol, the Gateway Bridge, the Rennaissance Hotel, the Sheraton Hotel, and LP Coliseum (Home of the Tennessee Titans). I started on the project in the Fall of 2005 and worked on it for about four or five months. Life got in the way until a few weeks ago and I was finally able to finish up.

Nashville has a beautiful and unique skyline and I sincerely hope this project does it justice. I had fun.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS:

Custom textures were created using The Gimp, a wonderful open scource image manipulation progam: http://www.gimp.org/. The textures were made from digital photographs and from various textures found in the fs9 default texture folders. DXT textures were created from bitmaps using MWGraphics' DXTBmp, by Martin Wright.

All objects were placed with Israel Roth and Seev Kahn's RWY 12 Object Placer Program. The Gmax models were added to the RWY12 library with the help of a tutorial written by By Stephen Legg - www.fs9world.netfirms.com, and using Library Creator by Arno Gerretsen.

Default generic FS9 objects were located and added to the RW 12 library with the help of "Visual Index for FS2004 Scenery Objects", compiled by Kevin Ryan ( kdryan1@yahoo.com).

All exclude bgl's were created with ExcBuilder, © 2003 Paavo Pihelgas.

Flatten bgl's were created using FSTflatten by Steve Greenwood ©2003 Flight Sim Traveler.

I don't think I've left anyone out, but if I did, it is completely unintentional. There are so many selfless gurus out there who gladly share their knowledge and their tools with the rest of us.

This scenery is freeware. You can use it as you wish, but you can't sell it or use any portion of it for profit.
