First off, this is not a complaint, this is just a concern. I'm not whining about having bad FPS, I'm just not sure this is what I should be getting.

When I load up FlightZone: Portland and go to KPDX, even without traffic, I get like 18 fps with most of my aircraft, except default. With traffic, it can go down to 15. Jayhawk reported 25 stable with full traffic, PMDG 744, ASV6, etc, and his CPU is a little worse than mine. Can this be due to only 1 gig of RAM or what?

Oh, sorry, I should have said that. FS9. FSX is way too far out of my reach for now.

You should be well beyond maxing FS9.

You should manage the 35FPS it seems to max out at.

So you're saying what I'm getting at addon airports isn't acceptable for my comp? Have you any ideas on why this could be happening?

I'd go for a good clean out of your PC.

Disk Cleanup.
CCleaner
Defrag
Turn unnecessary services from Auto to Manual.
Disable unnecessary Startup tasks.

1280x1024. Autogen and Scenery are at one from max. I say, the settings are 7/9 maxed.

PiP - Will do. This comp is basically brand new, but I'll give it a go and let you know.

Are you using VC?

Well I use VC and I run 1600 X 1200. I get about 19 to 30 FPS (Locked @ 30) depending on view and ASv6 weather settings in FZ KPDX.

Yes, I use VC. With what plane are you getting those frames? If you get 19 - 30 with those specs, then I should be getting a lot more than what I'm getting.

I get those with PMDG 747 VC and LVL-D VC. Now my CPU is faster than yours, but you should get around the same FPS I am getting it.. With the lower res..

Faster than mine for FS9? I don't think so, but that's besides the point. 4000+ @ 3.0Ghz  > 3800+ (which Jayhawk has), and FS9 isn't very taxing on the graphics card, so I can't see how he can get 25 FPS and me not.

Go and educate yourself about the Pentium M @ 2.8 GHz.... Faster than a FX57@ 3.3+ GHz.. How about that and 25 sec in Super Pi (As you have in your sig mentioned). FS9 uses single core so....

Didn't see that you OCed, I was going by the stock 2.0Ghz speed.

Well my profile say its running at 2.8 GHz so I do not know where you got the 2.0GHz from. Even @ 2.0 GHz and 533MHz FSB, it will give you a run for them money like it did a FX 57 stock.... Its OK alot of fellaz do not know about the Pentium M and they think it compares to a P4... Wrong wrong wrong wrooong....

Hmm, i have the same frames as you with the same scenery using active sky and in either PMDG or LDS vc. Yes my cpu isn't as great but still, and i just did a fresh install of winxp two weeks ago. And have been using O&O Defrag every since day 1. Maybe someone has an answer.

Don't expect that.

Silicone is limited to around what we're at now.

The future now is more smaller transistors and more work per clock cycle.

Silicone Germanium Chips will make the TerraHerts maybe.

 It was a bit of sarcasm really, since I would be dead by then as well as most members here.

But terrahetz does sound nice. Even at that stage and the FS???? series year, we'll still be using an old engine from FS12

I just reinstalled FS9, loaded up the PMDG 737, went to FlightZone: Portland's KHIO, and in VC I was getting no more than 12 - 18 FPS with no traffic. Here are my settings:

I understand I do not have bleeding edge hardware, but 12 FPS? It just doesn't seem right. I was pulling around 8 FPS with the same settings on my P4 machine.

*EDIT* Sorry for huge pictures.
