I want to know if its possible to convert say POSKY aircraft into flyable AI.
Cheers
Bigflyer

P.S does anyone know were i can get a AI concorde from?

I would not suggest you use POSKY as AI. The models are very very detailed, they would make a FPS nightmare. Why do you think AI planes are low poly models?

  YES! it is possible
i have taken Meljets 777's and turned then into AI
and
Eric Cantu's 737's  and 727's

you just need to make an AI flightplan that points to the jets you want to use.
it helps to learn Lee sworthy's>?  traffic tools tutorial that comes with his tools for making AI flightplans.

Seriously, it's not the thing to do... The impact on FPS is important.

True.
Sometimes there is no AI model available and if I particularly want the aircraft I use a flyable. Probably the most extreme was using one of Jens Kristensen's nice Avro Tens as the "Southern Cross" replica which flew from my local, YPPF. It worked, and my machine is no hottie. But the real aircraft was written off in an accident so that solved my problem!
As already said - it's a last resort if you really want a particular aircraft, but don't put too many in. And some flyables just don't behave well as AI without major overhauls. The simplest change is to make an "AI" copy of the aircraft folder then remove the unnecessary panel and sound folders. If you do that and you are also running the flyable version, change the "title" line in the AI aircraft.cfg to a distinctive name so FS doesn't confuse the flyable and AI versions.

once I put a lot of flyable aicraft as AI, and trust me, you wouldn't like to have the nightmare I had!

oh, and for the AI Concorde, you could try the one at http://www.flightsim.co.nz/ . Just go to AIS-AI section and there's it.

its can be done more simple like that all.. just take the PAI things there is a tool to choose the planes for each one!.. for a 8800gtx/s it isnt a problem you will get your 50-60FPS even so (i tried at my friends PC .. Asus EN8800GTX HDTP.. at lax at 100% AI only with flyables done he got 65 frames (but locked!)

PAI (Project AI) are made-for-AI aircraft that are generally 2,000 - 3,500 polygons for the entire aircraft ..... not a lot of refinement or detail.  His mention of using Posky aircraft means he wants to use HIGHLY refined and detailed aircraft, in the 200,000 - 300,000 polygon range.  And that WILL eat up system resources if he puts more than two or three into the display.

Not true at all, i have several flyable aircraft as AI and the load time does not bog down.
i have a few Meljets  and Eric Cantu's 737's and 727's as AI i can go up to 45 to 50% traffic load and not get any FPS lag.

in the video i made Move Along cargo you will see several Northern Air cargo 727's lined up on the apron and there was no hit in FPS going by them

cheap and dirty trick open one set or more of AI BGL files and replace the aircraft the files call on to use.
example:
aircraft text file/ AC#6,200,"iFDG MD11 McDonnell Douglas Western Airlines"
Flightplans text file/AC#6,N1767A

from aircraft file itself :
[fltsim.0]
title=>>>>iFDG MD11 McDonnell Douglas Western Airlines
and
atc_id=>>>>N1767A

create a flightplan or use an exsisting one and reedit some destinations you want to see the plane show at.

bigflyersmallbyer:

I use flyable aircraft all the time with Ultimate Traffic for FSX, really doesn't affect the FPS, and FSX loads just fine.
All my Frontier aircraft I downloaded as flyable, now they are both, all parked at DIA - Concourse A., The United aircraft the same way, and I've got Southwest, Lufthansa, British Airways, Alaska Air, Hawaian Air etc. and they are all flyable.
Get a traffic builder like Ultimate Traffic and have fun building your AI traffic.
