I have a ASA AirClassics E6-B Flight Computer. It's very easy one.

Also for navigation I have a thingy, it says "Flyboy Floyd's. I don't know what you call it in english though, but you need it to plot your routes on the charts. OMG .. I don't know what its called.

Get a manual E6-B. Sure they may seem intimidating. But, if I learned how to do Mach calculations. distance climb/decent and airspeed adjustments as well as numerous other tasks, you can too!!!! the practice Q's are great!

Use a manual E6B to learn on. In your checkride, if you try and use the computer, the instructor may just say your batteries just died.

Oh ya, my vote is manual E6B as well.

Once you learn it, and understand the decimal place, its just as fast as the calculator IMO.

It really is. When they first made me use it in Navagation class I didn't get any of it. After familarizing myself with it, it became really easy.

Also it comes with a manual with all kinds of problems in it you can solve. It is really detailed and youll get the idea very fast!

I just used it last friday on a flight. It was in my bag and a passenger asked me how it worked, so I showed him. I still knew all the hard stuff.

The electronic version is a geewiz ,nice to have in the fligth bag. The manual e6b has taught generations of pilots and unless you want a new toy save the money.
