Not JUST the US, in general, the Concorde was not allowed to go supersonic over populated areas in any country. An exception was made when the Concorde now at Boeing Field flew East to West.

concorde during cruise...imagine the fuss that would make if there were several of those doing that over land.
noise regulations are here for a reason, and I personally agree with em...wouldn't want to be waken up in the middle of the night by a giant boom sound

Might just be me but I think it would be kinda cool to watch A/C fly supersonic over my house and make sonic booms
We already have C-130's and Black Hawks that fly low enough over our house to spill drinks!

Wait a second, half of this topic talks about a super sonic flight ban over the US yet this F-22 did it? I have been wondering why I've seen a bunch of videos of Super sonic flybys at airshows whole there is that ban
Maybe do they let it slide by for airshows? Too bad they wouldn't ever be able to do a super sonic flyby for our airshow (our airport is smack dab in the middle of the city, the annual Thunderbird show has even been moved to just south of town!)
