So, Im deciding on probably changing my FX5500 128MB DDR to a 6200 256MB DDR2 Video Card, here are the following specs what do you think?

I Only Have PCI Slots!

From Frys Electronics:

EVGA FX5500
Performance
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500
270 MHz GPU
4 Pixel Pipelines
350 MHz RAMDAC
Memory
128 MB, 64 bit DDR
400 MHz (effective)
GB/s Memory Bandwidth
Interface
PCI 2.1
DVI-I, S-Video/RCA
Resolution & Refresh
240 Hz Max Refresh Rate
2048 x 1536 x 32bit x 60 Hz Max Analog
1600 x 1200 Max Digital
Cost: $59.99 USD After Rebate

EVGA 6200:
Specifications
Interface: PCI
Chipset Manufacturer: NVIDIA
GPU: GeForce 6200
Core clock: 300MHz
PixelPipelines: 4
Memory Clock: 533MHz
Memory Size: 256MB
Memory Interface: 64-bit
Memory Type: GDDR2
DirectX: DirectX 9
OpenGL: OpenGL 2.0
Ports: D-SUB, DVI, S-Video Out
RAMDAC: 400 MHz
Max Resolution: 2048 x 1536
Cooler: Fanless
Package Contents
256-P1-N399-LX
Driver Disk
S-Video Cable
DVI to VGA/D-sub Adapter

So will the 6200 do better than what I currently have? I only have PCI Slots and my budget is $60 at the moment so that is my best shot right now.

I am afraid that upgrade is not going to satisfy you. The 6200 is not that much better (if better at all) than the FX5500.

You really won't getting anything good for $60, even more in PCI  I would say, save the money and get a new PC, FS is not going to look good at all.

I just want higher frame rates I don't really care about AA and 3D Clouds or detailed cities. I see the Core clock is a bit higher. I don't fly PMDG or Level D High Detailed aircraft. I fly frame rate friendly aircraft such as POSKY. With the FX5500 I've been receiving 50FPS highest and constant.

I just want to know if the 6200 is better than the FX5500.

Here are the differences:

Higher GPU Speed = 300 MHz
Bigger Memory Size = 256 MB
Higher Memory Clock= 533MHz
Memory Type = GDDR2

I keep my settings on Med Low for performance. Performance is my option rather than Quality.

Yes it is but not for $50.  If you get "50FPS constant" than you don't need a new graphic card.  Human eye can only see 30FPS max.

yea I get 50FPS. But If I make my settings a little higher or when I fly on VATSIM my FPS drop to 20! In Kirk Olssons F-16 Model I get 20 FPS and that might be because I have a 128MB, where now these days the standard is 256MB.

Try running in a lower resolution?  TBH, if I were I wouldn't bother getting a 6200 for FS.

I'd go for an ATI X1300.....

Not too pricey, but probably the best PCI card.  I use it, and I'm satisfied enough.

I run at 1024x768x32 at 75Hz Refresh rate. I can't afford the X1300 at the moment.

I just need to know if the 6200 is better than the FX5500?

If we didn't have the high end 8600GTS 8800GTX cards which one would you choose? out of the FX5500 or the 6200

My FPS should go up to at least 65 FPS which is what Im looking for.

How many people do you need to have answer the stupid question??  THE 6200 IS BETTER.  Now, what the heck is the point man? If you get 50FPS, there is no visual difference from 50 to 65.  YOUR EYE ONLY SEES 30!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes I realize its better.

The stutters is what I want to get out of the way and be able to fly with a bit higher detailed scenery at Normal for Scenery Complexity and Autogen Density Normal. I run them right now at Low and still be able to maintain my FPS at 50.

You need to lock your FPS to 30, this will reduce stutters.

Heck, I'd give this one a shot as well - http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814131082

I've tried it, I can see the difference between 50 and 30 and it is a bit rougher to pan around in VC and Spot view.

Wow, higher power for the same price! I'll look for that one in the store. I'm not an adult, so I can't buy anything online yet.

Any upgrade over your FX5500 wouldn't be worth the money. Save your cash for a new system.

How much FPS do you get with FS9 on low med settings?

What are your current specs? It might not be the card with the problem but maybe the rest of the computer affects its performance.

I don't have a job or money  I'm in High School, my parents will buy it for me and as for the new system that's if my father is willing to spend the cash, its not my decision. As for a new card he is ok with that.
