My first set of clouds I created using the Cloud creator with the new GUI. Took me 1-minute to make Cumulus,Cirrus and Stratus...gotta love it.

Here are two shots using the new FEX  GUI. This time I want to show off the lovely Cirrus Clouds as well as very cool misty effects that 4096 textures produce.  Once again, flying through these SHD clouds gives a feeling of speed which I have never experienced before in all my 20 plus years of flight simming.

I want to clear things up a bit. In the past I said " Multi Hundreds " of new SHD Clouds, but that is INCORRECT! itīs more like " Multi Hundreds of  Thousands " of new SHD Clouds...I stand corrected.

The highly skilled programming expertise of Chris Norris and the highly skilled  texture artistery of Peter Wilding has already put FSX at new levels of realism with FEX. Now, with this FREE update in full Beta testing and extra features ( that I can not comment at this time )  will keep FEX #1 as it is now concerning a " Honest Flight Environment " using FSX.

Of Course this is just MHO.

A few shots of some 'SHD Clouds' using the new interface - all these clouds have been modified by myself using the new artwork sets, and as Robert has subtly suggested    the combinations you can create a far ranging and many.

These are all from my first few attempts, so just getting a feel for things really.

Hope you like them.

So what is the status of these cloud sets?  Is this something that I can buy now?  I am done waiting for the REX and will just get it when it comes out if it ends up being something that is a must.  I think these sets look just as good.

Any rate, am I looking at something that is truly released here or are these phantom...soon to be releases images as well? I know that FEX is out... but if I understand correctly these are a new set of cloud textures.

Thanks

Bman.

Hi Bman - to clarify, what your seeing above from myself and Robert are Beta testing shots, but not just of some texture sets, as has been the case up to now, but the full interface for modifying and installing cloud, sky and water textures. This is no phantom, but the very final stages before release. This will be released as a free update to existing customers, or will be available as a whole package to new customers.

Mark.

The release date is up to Peter and Chris. It depends how much more  bits and pieces they want to add to this update with this release.

I can say: the talk in the FEX beta testers forum that all are having a very positive results with the new interface and from what I have gotten so far, everything just works fantastic, simple.

Robert and Lead Balloon: Fanatstic shots!
Are you using ASX?

@ Bman:
I put some shots of the existing original FEX package (which you can purchase anytime you want to) in this thread, on page 8.
In my humble opinion, the original 1024*1024 clouds already do look very good.

Robert's and Lead Balloon's shots show the upcoming high-res clouds which will further improve FEX.
Here are a few more shots of the existing FEX release (non beta, non high-res), just for a tase of what's already available.
I took most of them on my old low end computer. The upcoming update will add to this.

I see - so, this will over write the cloud textures from ASX?

No, I believe ASX (Active Sky X) is only a weather engine, I don't think it has any clouds included.  If you mean X Graphics, yes, FEX can (you can choose what parts you install) overwrite the cloud textures.
