I have been trying to set up a LAN connection for FSX multi with a friend.
We were having some difficult getting my computer (host) to see his incoming connection.

Does and one have a few tips?  I have have searched far and wide but my results are weak.  We just jumped on Vatsim and that was fine.  However, this was buggin me.

I have opened the following ports per MSFS knowledge base

Ports-  23456, 6073 and 2300-2400

What am I suppose to set the port up on the Advanced Options for the network on FSX?

Any other thoughts or suggestions would be helpful-

Thanks

Bman.

Is this on a local network (such as he and you are both connecting to the internet through the same router)

If you're connecting via router, you might want to get cross-over cables. (I don't know exactly) I think if you want to run on the same ports, you will have to get a crossover cable to allow for 2way communication at the same time instead of 1 way (like between your modem, and computer)

I am talking about just a direct connection.  As if I was going to host a session, give you my IP and you come on board.

Not a direct connection in the room.  The question I have been having is what is the port that the host is suppose to put into FSX?  There is a range in there and I wasn't sure what port range should be used given several ranges are opened on a router.

Use one that commonly opened but not used because you can be proned to hackers.

Try using 23456 or 23422.
