Hi.  I no that FSX is a demanding game for graphics but is there something wrong if i canrnt have the graphics on at least just under ultra high in the settings menue menue with the graphics card ATI Radeon HD 3970 X2.

My PC specs are

Processor: Intel Core Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz 2.40GHz

Memory (RAM): 3326MB

System type: 32-bit (Vista)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also ive been in Display settings advance settings and this is what it says.

Adapter Type

ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2

Adapter Information:

Chip type: ATI Radeon Graphics Processor (0x950F)

DAC Type: Internal DAC (400MHz)

Adapter String: ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2

Total Availble Graphics Memory: 1919MB

Dedicated video Memory 512MB

System Video Memory: 0MB

Shared System Memory: 1407MB

"This infomation is from Display Settings."

This is the card i actualy got http://www.play.com/...rd/Product.html

Im just wondering if the memory is using the full power it has because it says its a 1GB but i think its only using 512MB.

PS

I am no computer expert, i do no some stuff but not alot.

Thanks.

The reason it's detected as a 512mb card is because it isn't a 1GB card. The 3870 X2 effectively has two HD 3870's on one card, where each has 512mb of video ram. It isn't a single unified pool of 1GB but two sets of 512mb. As a game has to load the same textures twice, you can't consider it a 1GB card. It's just how it's marketed I'm afraid.

The reason why you're struggling on ultra high is because of this

Sorry about mestakes its ment to be 3870 not 3970.

Ive tried something new for the last thew hours.  Instead of putting the resolution to 1024/768 32bit i have gone 1024/768 16bit.  Looks the same resolutioon because now i can have my graphics way high.  Im getting an average of 20fps at big airports such as Vegas, and around 45 smaller places and i have the FPS set to 57fps.  The only setting i carnt have on is light bloom that realy puts the graphics/FPS down it goes to around 8fps when light bloom is turned on so i leave that off.  But the graphics in 16bit mode is 100X better.

Oh and overclocking i no nothing and will proly break my pc hehe.  The only thing i no is how to formatt and put windows back.  :hrmm:
