Hi all,

Well I have advanced far enough now to start to show some progress shots of my new scenery for Barbados International (Grantley Adams) ! I decided to put what I learnt on the last project into something brand new and hopefully improve my techniques.

These are early, early shots. Terminal building only. No ground poly work done yet. Nothing. I fell into the trap last time of trying to rush too much at once. The shots are from FS9 but I'll probably do a dual version if it's not too complicated.

I was lucky enough to do some work out there in 06, and therefore needed a few trips out there to visit a client and ended up spending a lot of time down there, it's such a great place.

So if you've ever been out to Barbados let me know what you think of this and I am happy to take suggestions/criticism. (And if you have any photos of it I'd love to get hold of more!)

How did you do your trusses, are those textures with alphas on a plane?

Thanks guys.

Yeah the steelwork is all planes with alpha channels to keep the polygons down.
It was a very significant decision as there's lots of steelwork here that needed to be included as it's a big part of the building.

Amazing work Flyhalf. One bit of a question, is it Easier to make the Afcad, place some of the objects, then work up the Ground Polys ?

It is easier to do the ground and lighting in afcad only. Definitely. But it won't look as good. Photoreal ground work can always come as an upgrade. For a small airport like this you can let yourself loose a bit though and plunge a lot more detail in to it.

The age old debate about how much landside detail to include always comes up. For Adams, the check in area and fabric roofs are such a feature that you can't leave them out.

I had a look at their version and with all due respect to them, it's quite.... "lite".. shall we say.  :hrmm:

Flyhalf, didn't quite get it.. my question was. Is it easier to make Afcad , then place objects, and then do the Ground Polys?

You can do it that way. yes. The Ground polys layer will influence things like afcad lighting though. So then you need to go and hand make all that.
