Windows users can download SuperPI at: http://files.extreme...m/file.php?f=36

Mac OS X users can download SuperPI at: http://ocing3.free.f...b/exec_Mac_OSX/

In August 1995, the calculation of pi up to 4,294,960,000 decimal digits was succeeded by using a supercomputer at the University of Tokyo. The program was written by D.Takahashi and he collaborated with Dr. Y.Kanada at the computer center, the University of Tokyo. This record should be the current world record. ( Details is shown in the windows help. ) This record-breaking program was ported to personal computer environment such as Windows NT and Windows 95 and called Super PI. In order to calculate 33.55 million digits, it takes within 3 days with Pentium 90MHz, 40MB main memory and 340MB available storage.

The Rules:

When you start it up, it will ask for a parameter. Set the parameter as 21, and let it run. :hrmm: Once it's finished, post your results! :hrmm:

1MB in E8400 at 4Ghz:

Around 7-8 Seconds FTW!

I'd like to see how a slow clocked quad would perform...

Toshiba, no way in **** are you doing 7-8 second SuperPi 1M, trust me.  Run it and post a screenshot of CPU-Z open showing processor speed and SuperPi result.

I'm guessing mine would be around 8-10 seconds then for an E8400 at stock (3.0) speeds.. I'm at work on a crappy PC, so I'll check it out when I get home to see if I guess right.

Toshiba, how hot and how reliable does your CPU run at 4.0?

Stock E8400 you're looking at 17-19 sec 1m SuperPi.

My E8500 at 4.2 does 1M in 11 sec. At 4.5 I can pull <10 sec but it's running very hot at those volts/speeds (65-68 load)

My E8500 stock at 3.16ghz runs at 12.328sec SuperPi 1m. So 7-8 secs is impossible Toshiba. Please stop posting Nonsense!

SuperPi is really a bias towards Intel, it's not a great indicator of computer performance as it relies heavily on memory speeds and timings.

Sorry for the false information. At 5Ghz it would do 7-8 Seconds, but I am not doing 5Ghz now....

here is my results on four! STILL BEAT THE QUADS. Quads suck....

Posted Image

BTW. If a 3.16Ghz does 12 Seconds and a 4Ghz does 12 Seconds? Your not telling the truth jcrouse....

We still own them quads... Shows that Core 2 Duo 45NM is better than Core 2 Quad 65NM

That is entirely subjective to what application is being used.

Questions for you RussianMenance...

1. But I thought the test is how fast the CPU is? Doesn't it prove that the E8400 is faster?
2. So If your using a program capable of 4 Cores will it be faster?
3. Is Super Pi 2 Cores only?
