I'm curious. I assume that was After Effects with perhaps some NewBlue?

I recognize some of the effects at least that can be created in Adobe After Effects from the classes I am taking on it. If I am wrong, I'm curious what programs you did use.

I'm using Sony Vegas Pro 8.0. The portals were created with "Chromakeying", for the waves I used "Height Maps" with some "Cookie Cutters" and the texture blendings were done with animated masking functions.

Thanks Andreas, nice to know I inspired you. I wish I still had time to make videos but the talent round here now is pretty high quality.

I'm still a believer in fundamentals. Effects are just a tool. But they are nothing if the fundamentals aren't there. A great video without effects will trump a bad video that's full of them every time.

I fully agree with you. Effects should only be means to support the content of a clip. The best videos are those which depict a certain mood or tell a good/funny story, with or without effects. They only have to be assembled carfully, not only joining noncoherend scenes with some music and calling it a video.

Ahh, ok, I'm following you. Nice little use of effect for this. I can see how this can be reproduced now. Never considered working with it in that way!

Cheers and thanks for sharing. One :hrmm: of an idea, don't you think?

Very nice job Andreas.   Truly a measure of what FSX itself and FSX videos should look like.

I think you king video producers, you know who you are, rock by what you noted above - it's not the effects you use but the composition and design content in the videos.  The funny thing is that I am an architect - I am thinking up design concepts all day but this is a different league all together. I sit down to make a video and hit writers block and loss of vision beyond the first scene.  The actual production and techniques is a whole other mountain to climb.

I applaud the actual design and writing concept first and obviously the technical implementation just right behind.  Excellent job on both side of the road.

Benjamin.
