Ok I just got scared! I almost caused a fire in my kitchen!! I disconnected the PSU quickly! It seems like power really is running through it.

The cables lit bright up and then smoke fired.

What else to do now?

Woah, really? Which cables lit? Did smoke come from inside the PSU?

Yeah I had to remove the cable quickly enough so a fire wouldn't start inside the case.
No the smoke didn't come from inside the PSU but rather from the fan cables, but again nothing ran.
I think I'll just leave it like this for now and I'll take it to my computer teacher on Monday he builds alot of computers.

EDIT: Fans and everything were still dead.

From the FAN CABLES? Whaa??!

There is a possibility that the PSU may have an issue.

Yeah I'm guessing something is up with the PSU itself, because no movement was made by the fans.
They cables lit up bright orange and smoke just came out all into my kitchen, so in a rush I cut the power.

Woah, I think your PSU must be busted to begin with-- and it may have taken out your fans with it.

Get it RMA'd. If the case fans don't work, the case might have to be RMA'd also (unless you want to spend some money and replace the fans)

Return merchandise authorization

That basically means return it because you got a dead product. Where did you buy it from?

As for the cable that lit up, I left it connected to SYS_FAN 2 on the Mobo by accident, it doesn't seem like it did any harm to it but i don't know yet until I can attempt to turn it back on.

I'm not moving anything else anymore.

Bought it from Newegg.

EDIT: One of the cables is fried and all I can see is the copper wiring.

Is that even possible? Doesn't the fan only have one power cable coming from it, and it connects to the PSU directly, not the motherboard?

And try contacting PC Power and Cooling customer support first.

I left it connected to the Motherboard, supposedly it's supposed to connect to the SYS_FAN 2 or am i wrong? Was I suppost to just leave it connected with no connection to the Mobo? Maybe that was the problem that the Mobo was receiving a surge of energy through that slot? That's what it reads in the Mobo guidebook at least.

Yeah I'll contact them tommorow. I have to go in a moment.

Thanks for your help everyone, unfortunately no luck at the moment. Hopefully my mobo didn't suffer any damage.

Call PC Power and Cooling, tell them that your computer didn't turn on.

Tell them that you unplugged everything except the fans, and that you used a paper clip/wire to connect the green wire to the black wire (don't say staple, you'll confuse them and their website says paper clip/wire for testing (they do the same thing anyway)) and when you plugged it in, there was a big spark and some smoke from your fan.

EDIT: Here's their customer service number 1-800-722-6555

Thanks I'll give them a call tommorow. The smoke didn't come from the fan though but rather than fan cable that connects to the mobo.

Honestly, I don't know how the power cable of this:
http://www.virtual-h...red/Antec18.jpg

can connect to the motherboard at the same time as the power supply.

But hopefully your mobo did not suffer any damage.

If you check on the PSU there is a dual link power connection that runs from the PSU to the 2 fans and then from there it has another connector that hooks up to the Mobo:

It's the second pair of connectors from the left.

It's a bit hard to see... you sure that's a fan connector?

Im just hoping my rig will work, we've already spent most of our money on it and right now I'm worried. Especially after that incident.

I'll call my computer teacher and ask if he can have a look at it as well.

The connector you said was on the motherboard... Did it look anything like this?
