Merge Down Layers

I made a repaint with Project Opensky's 737-800 paintkit. I finished in the .psd, and I tried merge down all the layers, but the result is a horrible looking, neon rendition of my plane. What am I doing wrong? (I'm using Paint.NET.)

Dunno with paint.net bus have you got any layer effects on?

Merge down one layer at a time. Also make sure that you're not merging layers in "Overlay" or "Lighten" mode over the rest of the composition.
