I don't understand: people said that Vista "it's a crap" but now say that Seven "it's the best thing on Earth".

With a Q6600 @ 3200, 4GB RAM, 8800GTX and RAID0 I don't see a big diference. In notebooks I believe the diference are much bigger, but who runs FSX in a notebook  :hrmm:  ?

Well, on notebooks Win7 is so much better. I had Vista on my HP Elitebook 6930p for schoolwork, and I can definitely tell a difference. Haven't used Vista on my stationary, but I think Win 7 runs great on it too :hrmm:

*Bump*

I've resolved the crashing issue, which was due to a Windows 7 DLL not playing nice with FSX. If anyone else is getting crashes whenever they click on the in-game menu options (right clicking in the window to change the view, hitting ALT to bring the menu bar up) read this thread, which will show you how to get the working DLL from Vista.  :hrmm: http://forums1.avsim...pic=249211&st=0

I've had this off-and-on issue, perhaps others have seen it too, where the menu bar in FSX isn't showing text, but these vertical streaks in place of the text. But it's not too big of a deal. It's an off-and-on issue, and I'll get a screenshot if I see it again.

Yep, not a big gap in performance from Vista to Windows 7. Using a little less memory on idle, but other than that it's about the same.

I upgraded from XP 32-bit to Windows 7 64-bit (took a lot of hacking, tweaking to get it working on my Mac). Like I said, not much gain in performance. I've only got 3GB of RAM, so the 64-bit power hasn't yet kicked in. I hope to upgrade to 6GB later this year.
