Hello FSW,

Just before I get these components I would just like to double check before I get them. I might intend to overclock but im not sure yet. At the moment I would just like to get these components to work with each other and make a computer out of them. And also at the moment I would like to just run FS9 at 1680X1050 screen resolution and a lot of addons running with each other.

These are the components:

Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P Motherboard Phenom II X4 Socket AM3 AMD 770 ATX RAID Gigabit Ethernet (http://www.amazon.co...61837034&sr=8-1) (£69.99)

AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 965 Black Edition 3.40GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail [HDZ965FBGMBOX] (
http://www.overclock...odid=CP-253-AM) (£139.99 inc VAT)

4GB kit (2GBx2), 240-pin DIMM, DDR3 PC3-10600 memory module (http://www.crucial.c...2KIT25664BA1339) (£78.19   inc. VAT)

Antec 300 Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black [0761345-08300-3] (http://www.overclock...rodid=CA-101-AN) (£39.99)

Akasa 80+ 600Watt Power Supply Unit (http://misco.co.uk/a...=367815&CatId=0) (£64.99)

Asus GeForce GTS 250 512MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card [90-C1CMRF-J0UAY00Z](http://www.overclock...=56&subcat=1402) (£79.99)

Western Digital Caviar Green 500GB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (WD5000AADS) (http://www.overclock...atid=14&subcat=) (£37.98)

Edimax EW-7727In nMax 300Mbps Wireless Desktop PCI Network Adapter [EW-7727In] (http://www.overclock...597&subcat=1610) (£17.99)

LG GH22NS50 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - Retail (http://www.overclock...rodid=CD-094-LG) (£18.99)

Thanks, yes I have Windows 7 x-64. I have already installed on the computer I have at the moment, though. I assume that I can just remove it from that and then install it onto the new rig?

Anyone suggest items for overclcoking? Or does it have good enough parts for that anyway? I've herd that it can be overclocked to 5.9GHz :hrmm:

I don't think you'll be running it on 5.9Ghz without Nitrogen :hrmm:.

To overclock your going to need an aftermarket cooler but as the above says, you aint gonna get it to 5.9 :hrmm:

On default cooler or aftermarket?

If you just google AMD Phenom II X4 965 overclocking then you'll be able to see what kind of results others have managed.

On air? :hrmm: You would end up frying the CPU.

Just for information, what sort of performance could I expect from these components?

I would stay away from the Caviar Greens. They run at 5400rpm and there is a noticeable difference. I would go for either a Seagate Barracuda or a Western Digital Caviar Black.

I, too, will be getting a new build, can't wait! Hope you enjoy yours :hrmm:

Finally, someone else noticed! :hrmm:

Western Digital has been packaging up 5,400RPM notebook drives as desktop drives (of course, in 3.5" for your internal fittings), and then stamping "Green" in with the title. They say that the slower-spinning disk will save you money on your electricity bill.

But yes, go with the Western Digital Caviar Black hard disk instead, which spins at the standard 7,200RPM.

Alternatively, you could go with my personal favorite, the Seagate Barracuda. :hrmm: Haven't had a single bad experience with my Seagate.
