I also don't see any reason whatsoever how they could benefit making an arcade sim on PC where you fly GA.

My feeling is it's something completely fresh and new.
Free roam around the world. Fly anywhere you want, using any type of plane. Play offline or online.
But in addition, I expect some races like Red Bull and Reno. Maybe a career mode and ability to create your own pilot/character.

After having read the quote from the MS Flight website, I'm pretty sure the game will cater to experienced players more so than newer players.

FSX had a pretty interesting demo, it had the whole world but only a tiny area around St. Maarten was actually modeled and the rest of the globe was a black/strangely coloured whatever.
