Ok guys, here's the deal.  My friend's dad who is a pilot took this picture and said it was a 737.  I think it's 757 and this is like a total controversy on facebook right now.  Tell me what you guys think, I'm almost positive it's a 757 but he's not budging from his 737 theory.
thanks!

it's a 757 - you can tell by wingspan and the length of the fuselage.

That's what I thought, from the orange engines and everything.

If the winglets don't give it away I don't know what will. It's a 757. Also the engine cowling on the 737 is flat on the bottom. On this aircraft the cowling is round.

Probably the quality of the picture but if you block out the fuselage and look just at the wing the winglets almost look like the winglets on an a330.

The winglets look nothing like A330 winglets.

correction   it is 757-200W.  In other words, it is 757-200W with winglets.

Also, the poster neglects to tell us where his pal's dad took that pic especially location of picture would provide us important clue.

Ok, that was stupid. Clearly you can see the winglets blend upwards. On the A330 , the winglets make a sharp turn up to a angle, not blend.

Do they actually give it a W designation?

I am pretty sure they don't on flight plans.

EDIT: Scratch that idea, I haven't seen anything with a 757W

Definatly a 757, didn't even have to look twice! The wingspan alone is far too long for it to be a 737.

Well my guess is somewhere in Europe, since the photo is of an Icelandair 752.
