Nope, I refuse to entertain people who can't argue a point without insulting someone. If you wanna do that, then head back to your friends at your local 2nd grade class. That's not acceptable in discussions with grown ups.

I already did. I posted the source of the information, which did not mention John Locke anywhere in it, and I also posted what the constitution actually said. :hrmm: It simply stated the state shall not make a law establishing one religion. It never said there shall never be items posted in government buildings, never said no prayer time in schools, never said that the government can't even endorse one. It simply says: the government shall make no LAW or PROHIBIT the free exercise thereof. And the article simply states that there should be no tests of religion for government office. Again, has NOTHING to do with the earlier mentioned.

Read up, bub.

Read up, bub.

From First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

Quote

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion

From Article 6.

Quote

The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

Kay bub, I read. How about you?

I read, and you're missing the LAW part of it. That means, there shall be no LAW saying 'The Roman Catholic Church is the official religion of the United States. It does not say "The US Government shall be completely absent of anything having to do with religion."

" but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States."

And it never has been, and once again, has ZERO to do with the concept of complete absence of anything to do with religion an any part of the government. It simply states, if you wanna hold public office, you don't need to pass a religious test.

So, please show me where you're getting this whole 'complete absence of religion in government idea.'

The fact that all of the founding fathers were secularist...
Thomas Paine was Atheist by the way.

But I'm not sure at what you're working at now. You seem to have contradicted yourself, because a minute ago you seemed to be working at that the gov should function on Good Christian principles.

Do you even know what 'respecting' means in this case?

It means concerning, not honoring.

"“It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible."-George Washington during his farewell address.

""The Bible is the cornerstone of liberty...students' perusal of the sacred volume will make us better citizens, better fathers, and better husbands."" -Thomas Jefferson

""That Book (the Bible) is the rock on which our Republic rests."" - Andrew Jackson

Hmmm...yeah, that really sounds like an atheist or a secularist.
