Not as catastrophic as the TAM A320 though...

That's what seat belts are for. Looked like a real rough bounce there. Couldn't get the Portuguese but it looked like the crew made it out okay!

It'll buff out. If not, someone with cash has a new base for a simpit!

According to the description, no serious injuries or fatalities. Testament to modern aircraft build standards really, that was a ###### of a stop.

According to the Aviation Safety Network, the captain suffered serious injuries while the copilot and one passenger suffered minor injuries. Congonhas would be a perfect candidate for EMAS if it wasn't for the limited length.of the runway.

Honestly the airport has had such a terrible reputation with the runway's length and location that I'm surprised that it hasn't been closed for good...

Yeah what was actually done after the TAM incident? Nothing major as far as I'm aware. The problem is they can't really expand the runway as it's right in Sao Paulo

Lesson learned: don't built airports in the middle of busy cities.

(Manhattan airport is the dumbest idea since...ever.)

Wow, that was a much bigger bounce and impact than I expected.  Couldn't imagine how rough that would have felt from inside..

True, but here at Brussels the other way around also doesn't work. There is the airport, lots of cheaper building lots around it, so what do people do: they buy the lots, start building houses and than file complaints for noise around the airport.
I saw the air crash investigation of the TAM and really wondered on how on earth this airport would open again. They still haven't learned their lesson it seems.
