I am out of ideas, so I turn to you for help.

Suddenly, out of the blue, FSX suddenly decided to stop working with the "Fatal error, closing down FSX". Its been running now for at least two years
with no problems. Ive uploaded plenty of software, PMDG, Quality Wings, Captain, Flightsimlabs, you name it, ive got it.

I think the problem started after there was a WIN7 update, but then I blame everything on MicroSoft when I have problems! I downloaded the latest
grafic-card driver, Nvidia 320.49, still the same.

Here is my system :

Cougar1 Tower
i7-2600K @ 3.40 GHz
GeForce GTX560Ti, 320.49 running at 1920 x 1080, 60
16 GB RAM

I uninstalled all the FSX-Software and I mean everything and started anew.

Installed FSX, re-booted, started FSX, no problems.
Installed SP1, re-booted, started FSX, no problems.
Installed SP2, re-booted, started FSX, you heard the swearing world-wide.

Has anyone got a solution for me, before I switch to PrePar3D.
(Firefox has also stopped working, just throwing this in)

Phil

If Firefox has stopped working properly, there's a good chance your OS install  is corrupted.

Seeing as you reinstalled FSX I am doubtful this will help, but try deleting your FSX.cfg and letting FSX create a new one. Also, even though you removed FSX, a toublesome addon might have remained installed and is continuing to cause havoc.

You can also use CHKDSK to check your hard drive for errors, which could reveal some corruption as Switch suggests.  http://answers.micro...67-d8d385dcbb12

No, the type of corruption I speak of won't show up as an error. It's a software level issue and not necessarily errors present on the disk. I had a similar issue about four years ago. Here's the thread if anyone's interested. Thankfully Windows 7 realizes an update may be corrupted and will uninstall the updated and revert all changes.

Coincidentally, Chrome Canary has this issue due to a memory bridge issue. Certain video players will cause the browser to black screen the computer.
