Hi All,

I recently build up a computer from a few oldish parts I had and a couple of new parts. It seems to be working okay at the minute running FSX at average settings. However the motherboard is stopping from working my CPU. As it doesn’t allow over clocking. My question is can anyone recommend a good motherboard for these components?
  • Intel i5 2500K
  • Corsair CX500
  • nVidia GTX660Ti BOOST 2GB
  • Kingston 4GB DDR3 1600MHz
I do currently only had a stock CPU cooler as well so if you can recommend a budget cooler I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks :)

I've found that ASRock makes some pretty great boards for the money and you get a ton of features.  I have the X79 Extreme 6 and it's very easy to overclock.

ASRock Z77 Extreme4:

As for CPU cooling on a budget. If your case has the room, then I'd definitely go water cooling, especially if you are planning on overclocking. I run the Cooler Master Seidon 120V on my 4960k and it keeps it nice and cool.  Only con is that it can get pretty noisy, it is only $50 though.

My motherboard and cooler. Both work fine for me.

Thanks guys, I actually got the ASRock Z77 Extreme4 along with H80 corsair water cooling and I seem to be running stable at 4.6GHz at the moment which I am quite happy with.  Now for the fun.  reInstalling FSX... :/
