My current system has been performing reasonably well since 2007 but alas it seems as if my Motherboard has finally died

It is now time for a new system and I hope this forum can give me some recommendations

Without sounding pompous budget is not really an issue ( with reasonable considerations up to US$ 5000 is okay ) and I am not looking for overclocking / water cooling etc

I am only looking to use FSX for now

Also my last system used XP well , should I really be looking at Windows 7 for this new build

Thanks

And just to clarify I only intend to use the machine for FSX

Thanks

If you are planning for FSX you need to overclock the CPU.  There's no way around it.  An old dual core E8400 running at 4.2GHz will yield better performance than a brand new quad core Haswell CPU that's kept stock.  It really isn't difficult, and when done right, does not shorten the life of your system.  You also don't need water cooling to overclock.  Definitely go with Windows 7.

Not personally but I will buy the components and get the guy at the computer shop (who assembled my last system) to put it together
