Hey guys, I just joined here!

I want to get back into simming after an absence of 5 years, and just received my new Laptop and the FSX Gold Pack.

The system has the i7-4810MQ Overclocked to 3.8Ghz, NVIDIA GTX 870M 3GB, with 8GB DDR3, and a 1TB HDD. Firstly, is this good enough?

Now I haven't installed FSX yet, and was hoping you guys could help me set it up with the tweaks, the do's and don'ts and the NVIDIA inspector set up!

Thanks! :)

You should manage to get decent milage out of that :)

Install FSX (I don't think you need the service packs with Gold) and then let open the sim to let it generate the cfgs for the settings and scenery.

Then, follow the settings outlined in this vid - i did this a few days ago when I reinstalled my FSX - I used to get 15fps max, now I'm getting a silky smooth 30fps.

Take his advice - don't go adding all the tweaks at once without testing - if I didn't follow this - I wouldn't have known that the [BUFFERPOOLS] Usepools=0 tweak was the one causing scenery spikes.
