I purchased, installed & registered the latest version of MS Flight Simulator Gold & add-on disk.  No errors received during install. I cannot find the .exe file in any of the 'loaded' directories. Therefore, I can't get the program to start. The documentation only references a 'Main" wwindow. Cannot locate to execute.

I just reinstalled FSX today and had the same issue. If you can find your way to the main FSX folder, (program files, microsoft games, FSX) and it should be in there somewhere. You can send a shortcut to the desktop and you're good to go!

You don't want to install FSX into the Programs folder...install it into its own folder such as FSX or FSX2 etc. The reason for this is that files need to be written to when FSX runs and the folder and file permissions in the Programs folder don't allow that by default. Finally, make sure you always run the fsx.exe file as Administrator.
