Shalom and greetings all my pals,
Presenting era 1970 typical commuter flight between PANC Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport located 4 nautical miles southwest of downtown Anchorage, Alaska and PAKN King Salmon Airport located just southeast of King Salmon in the Bristol Bay Borough of Alaska.
Check out beautiful tail at the PANC gate
Being pushed back from gate by pushback tug in bitter cold morning
Starting engines in sub zero freezing weather is very tough as engines are started spewing some smoke
Taxiing on icy taxiway toward short of runway 33
Holding short of runway 33 awaiting for take off clearance
Now on runway 33 still holding at the airport tower controller's request awaiting for take off clearance
Airborne on climb to FL200 with background view of city of Anchorage, PAMR Merrill Field located one mile east of downtown Anchorage, and Westchester Lagoon visible next to cruise ship
Making left turn over waters of Cook Inlet toward west
Nice morning sunrise Alaska style!
Now cruising at FL200 with background view of Lake Clark National Park and Preserve offering a wilderness of seacoast, mountains, glaciers and lakes filled with trophy-sized rainbow trout
Cruising at FL200 westward with background view of Crescent Lake that is popular for grayling fishing
Wing view of Tuxedni Bay where you can see in middle of water Chisik Island and its Tuxedni National Park Refuge that is home to seabirds, bald eagles, and peregrine falcons.
Crossing waters of Illimna Lake that is largest lake in Alaska, second largest lake in the United States of America, and eighth largest in North America. The lake is great spot for fishing but just watch out for Iliamna Lake Monster
Descending to 10,000 ft with background view of beautiful Alaskan winter landscape
At 5,000 ft with background view of North Arm Naknek Lake and Naknek Lake
Wing view of two same lakes
At 3,000 ft
On final runway approach to runway 11 with background view of King Salmon creek
Passing some river that is not identified in any King Salmon map
Seconds before touchdown
Touchdown spewing snow dust
Braking down on ultra icy runway is not easy!!
Slowing down to exit from runway into taxiway toward gate
Taxiing to gate
Approaching gate
Thank you for viewing. Stay tuned for next exciting flight.
Regards,
Aharon
