there is no such AMD 64 FX 3.6Ghz (unless overclocked) but the FX-53 would beat the crap out of the P4 EE in the majority of games. I'm not sure about encoding and stuff like that tho but i think thy are almost comparable

And no i'm not a fan boy

you must have seen that thread about that guy who has overclocked his AMD Athlon FX-53 to 3604mhz...

the clock speed of the Athlon FX-53 is 2.4Ghz

maybe it was an AMD 3600..  But not at 3.6 GHz..  Maybe at 2.6 GHZ with the rating of 3600+.

This thread is just screaming:

"Fan-boy's and Activists!  Bring us your weak, tired and hungry!"

I have learned from my last topic about it..

On the good note though, the emails stopped coming in after I posted it :D

But was at no good to the moderators bumping their bandwidth like that :o

So yes, please LOCK this topic.

But anyway I personal think AMD is better because a Pentium is apparently meant to run 800Mhz slower than it says it does according to this random magazine my mate read :D

amd and pentiums work differently ie.

amd are more efficient therefore need less power (ghz)
p4 are less efficient needing more power

amd 64 3000 is basically the same as p4 3.0ghz but better

As long as the responses are measured and reasonable I won't lock this, or any, thread. Just keep it civil please.

That being said, right now AMD has the lead in gaming CPU's. Just like video cards, that distiction can change with the next round of releases..... so the title of 'Best Gaming CPU' is always a fleeting one.

If you bought a FX53 you have to buy one of the best graphics cards to do it any justice really.

As for Amd being 500$ more than Pentiums, bah.

P4EE $1000

AMD FX53 $840

It's not that simple. the P4 3.6 HTEE is amazing in a lot of ways, but will dim the lights when it starts up, and needs a heatsink that would impress the guys who put up stonehenge to keep it below melting temperature - which does not reflect P4 vs AMD, as most P4s run cooler. I'll not get into another argument about AMD vs P4 though  :D  :o
