Hi Tim

The most important quality you MUST have when doing 3D modelling is Stuborness :D ,  here is some advise I have previously posted

start with this

http://www.simviatio...als/gMax_00.htm

good starting point

then troll this site

http://www.fsalpha.com

has advanced tips on stuff

and also 3Ds Max video tutorials (just the same as GMax)

then when you come across something in GMax you don't know how to do you can research specificaly on the web or search the help files. In my experience there is no single good source for GMax, I have been modelling for a month now and the most useful time spent is on researching the tool.

Forums on sites like www.turbosquid.com are invaluable

Air files are all put together in a program called FSEdit which comes with the Microsoft SDK's (fs2004_sdk_fsedit_setup). Aircraft are exported out of GMax as .MDL files with the help of a program called MakeMDL which comes with another Microsoft SDK (makemdl_sdk_setup). In fact the MS SDK's are invaluable and you really need to start with them ( also read the documentation that is provided with them as it is very helpfull).

then u can get to it....

Why do you bother to bring back a year old topic if that's all you going to say?

Actually, I'm glad also this was brought back to life also -- those links are still very helpful.  And it's nice to see a model-in-progress.
