Is there any way to 'un-flatten' areas? I want to make smaller the area around an airport, so the hills are closer.

What I want is for the flattened part to cover roughly the area shown in orange. I know its not automatically scaled up with the afcad file, because I can extend the runway out over the sea, like in the top right of the picture.

Coastline maker uses top down screenshots a s a background and can sort out the coastline for you AND make new land at the level of the airport. It has a good tutorial.

Yeah, but no matter what shape I make the coastline, the default flatten area there will raise the level of the water to the level of the airport, making things look stupid.

Hmm.. messing around with Coastline maker, when I try to create the grid on the land to shop up the LOD13 squares, the BGL created crashes FS. I've found and installed the patch to bring it up to v2.2 with the extras for FS2004.

EDIT: its working now :D

you can tell it to add more land and draw in a new beach and get rid of the old one. it's primary area of design is the Land Water mask.

Woohoo! My new coast shape worked perfectly :D And also my new road :o

Now, I want to make the only flat part the orage coloured-in area shown in the pic below. If I make my own mesh and just have it at a higher priority that the default scenery will it overwrite the flattened area of the original airport?

you shoud be able to cncell all terrain in 1 LOD cell and draw you're own contours.

Thanks :D

I'll have a go at meshing tomorrow. If this works, I think I have evrything I need to start building and placing actual models :o

TCY, you're gonna be a real wonder-designer here shortly!!!!   Looking forward to seeing your work .... if fact, I may even ask you to collaborate on some on old Pacific island airbases with a WWII look to them.  But that project is a few months down the road ....

Again, good going and can't wait to see the first product.  You ARE going to post screenies of the design process, right?   :P
