Download the demo of 8.6 before you do anything. Xplane isnt about setting the flaps and going to full throttle and pushing autopilot button, there is loads to it, i recomend downloading the demo first. And there is loads of xplane 8 shots on the xplane sites.

But when I fly a real Cessna, I don't do much more than what I do in FS9 anyway?

And the link tp the X-Plane corner of his site- Check out the SS forum.

By the way, if your basing your decision on buying it based on the new and improved scenery, your not going to like it. When i'm flying in X-Plane the scenery is my last concern.

You don't have real ATC in fs9, nor wake turbulence or even the proper flight dynamics. The weather xplane simulates is far more advanced than fs9 making it more fun to fly especially in GA aircraft.

yeah, microburst is a big thing XP has that MSFS doesn't. in MSFS i can fly in thunderstorms in a C172 without a problem. In real life and XP thats a different story.

surely though its not that hard is it? i sometimes feel it is slightly exaggerated. two years ago i attended a cabin sim and all i was told to do is push the throttle, set flaps and wait for proper speed to take off.

wasnt xplane though. was another simulator. i was part of a small aviations summer program in OKBK back in 2003.

Well, go fly an approach in a GA aircraft in a thunderstorm...I bet it gets flipped over/tip stalls before you get close to the airport if you fly it like you do in MSFS.  :D

in that case watch out for the torque pulling you off the runway, and stalling shortly after takeoff. It's almost hard to make a plane stall in MSFS, i can cut both engines in a 737 shortly after rotation and still glide for a mile. Do that in a real plane or X-Plane and watch the plane drop like a rock.

Just download the demo and find out, it goes more in depth into simulation and there is more stuff to watch out for.

I don't see why people are fannying about asking 'post this and post that'

There are loads of screenshots about, just use the search button, yes the magic search button that never gets used :D

Just buy it and see for yourself, it's only $35 or £29.99, that's hardly going to break the bank is it.

Exactly, and there is loads of demos to get. This isnt the only site for flight sim.

by the way,

have you ever visited the "realism" settings in the flight simulator menu and set everything to maximum realism (i.e. hard option mode?)?

have you allowed aircrafts to detect crashes?
did you go to the realism weather settings and check the box clearly indicating "weather turbulence affects aircraft"?

have you ever set weather turbulence in a severe rate?
did you check the box allowing plane to detect stress?

surely all those options to deal with aren't just there for the sake of it. theyre there for a meaning :D

Yup, it gives an effect but that effect is no where near realism.

When your engines stress it just says "stress" and the game restarts.

If you use the correct settings, an approach in thunderstorm will be no peace of cake :P
