www.divx.com  download this, its like windows media player... it plays video files but more importantly it will install the divx codec

i had to use a divx to make it like 4 mb otherwise it would be about 200 mb lol.

thx B.

I just finished dowloading it, but it still wouldn't play for me. What's not working right and what should do about it?

No, Win98. When I have it open up the file, it automatically opens Windows Media Player. I can't find any way to have it open up in DivX.

It won't let me do that. It's already configured to be played in Windows Media Player. When I right click, it only gives me the option to open. There's no option for "open with..." for anything like that.

No thanks, Bernhardt. I really appreciate the offer though. You don't need to go through all that work for me. I've been toying around with it for the last half hour or so and I can't seem to get anywhere. I'm going to try looking within Media Player and DivX and see if there are any settings that need to be changed, like if files are automatically played in one player no matter what.

Let me just tell you what I did, and let me know if you see anything wrong:
I right-clicked the link and clicked "save as..."
I saved the file with the default title in the DivX Movies folder
I double-clicked on the icon in the folder to play
Windows Media Player opened and said the file cannot be played
I opened DivX and it said the file was of the wrong type

Do you see anything wrong there? That's the only place, other than Media Player or DivX, that there might be a problem. Let me know if you see anything that doesn't fit and we'll see what i can do about it. Thanks again for your help.

I'm not sure what you mean. What do you mean 'unzip it'? Do I have to go the website to unzip it or can I just do that from a 'properties' menu or something?
