First off, select the Lasso tool by pressing L. now make a selection around your engine like this.
Posted Image

Secondly, choose Filter - Blur - Gaussian Blur as shown below.
Posted Image

Third off, Apply this setting.
Posted Image

Choose Filter - Disort - Ocean Ripple.
Posted Image

Apply these settings to your Ocean Ripple.

This is how it should look like. We are not done yet though.
Posted Image

Select your blur tool.
Posted Image

Lastly, blur the edges of the jetblast to create a more realistic look and making it look a lot less "edgy" than shown is the previous shot.

P.S the stuff in the engine is just some smudging, not really neccessary. D.S

For gods sake, there have been so many jet blast tutorials, but people don't realise is that the key to a great jet blast is what ever suits you... :D

There aren't many tutorials that shows a realistic look of a jetblast. Mainly because people don't known how they look.

Good try Rooniish.

Maybe so VHHH, but i just wanted to share my experience in how to make jetblast, so isn't it good that we have a lot of tutorials? they can now choose which one that suits them best.

Scandy, as i said above, i made this tutorial to show everyone how i make my jetblast.

Joey, since when does a jetblast tutorial look like real life? :D
Maybe Olympic Airways's but he's a master editor, i'm not, i'm doing my best. :D

Could you not add feather to the lasso to make it look less edgy instead of blur?

Nice tutorial :D

Mate, I know what real jetblast looks like, but finding a suitable compramise in PS can be extremely difficult...
