December 17, 2003 - No time to blog last night because today is the big day!  We're heading to the Wright Brothers Memorial in 5 minutes. :o  A TON of stuff is planned for today, so be sure to watch for today's entry.

Yesterday we were allowed to stay at the park an hour after closing to witness a takeoff of the Marines' Osprey VTOL aircraft from very close range.  We got some excellent footage of the event as well as a mouthful of debris :P

Osprey Takeoff Video

Today's video is nearly 3 minutes long, hence the large filesize (15mb).  Does anybody object to the large filesize?  If so we might be able to post a lower resolution version later...

The larger file sizes doesn't bother me in one bit... I just don't have Divx at work to watch the vids. I'll download and watch it at home where I have Divx 5.1.1 (I think.. I know I have at least 5)

i don't mind the file size either. the only thing i am consernd about are people on dial up... haha but really i think it is worth it to download at 5 kbs for like 20 minutes. (dial up eww....)

awesome video! but the smoke that came out of the right engine didn't give me that warm fuzzy... haha

It didn't sound like there was any damage done to the aircraft, so they'll probably try again soon. At least I hope so. I want to see the Wright Flyer take flight!

While filming the takeoff from so close I must admit that was in the back of my mind.  A crash on takeoff would have been the end of both Brad and me! :D
