I have Dxtbmp, and I open up a texture, then edit the texture. What format do I save it as to make it FS compatible?

I open Groundmaker, and place a texture, when I select the texture it says it isn't compatible, so.. which format should I use?

Generally, a 24-bit Windows bitmap sized 256x256 (pixels) but no larger than 512x512.  If you can't achieve any of that, then use DXTbmp to convert it to an extended bitmap (DXT1 or DXT3); but sometimes even THAT doesn't work if it's too far out of whack with what FS9 is looking for.

I convert all my scenery textures to either DXT1 (if no alpha is needed) or DXT3 (if an alpha channel is needed).

You can also use Extended 32 bit 888-8 textures if more detail is needed in the alpha channel. These kinds can take 8 bit alpha channels (256 shades of grey) whereas the DXT3 can only take 4 bit (16 shades of grey).

Crikey, mate!!!!!  Thanks for pointing out how badly my brain has deteriorated over the years!     Of all people, I should have REMEMBERED that and mentioned it, because I had to go to 32-bit to get the textures on those munitions correct.   :D

It looks like you have a space in the filename. Try taking it out. Apart from that, I can't see what might be wrong.

its true though, ive been there like 5-6 times, its runway 32, at the end of this runway there is a road... State Road 54, my house is just off of that road! Plus the filename is tampanorth.bmp... duh.

But this is my local airport, i live in walking distance of it, and the buildings and taxiways are exactly the same as in real life... thats... how i knew.

Chris

Absolutely nothing now mate. I am placing objects exactly on top of the photo's. And using your photos for the objects. They won't all be 100% accurate, but a ###### of alot better then before. I am so Amped I can now use photorealistic textures!

Alright, here's the deal mate. I'm customising alot of textures, and I might have to create custom grass etc. over the satelitte photo's are low quality if you view them from the ground. I mean, all the textures and stuff are top notch, and as close to photoa s I can do with quality.
