I'm currently turning a small airfield into a busy weekend flying club by creating some traffic. I've added an asphalt and a grassy runway with taxiways and 30+ parking places (a North and South area). I had to add a tower due to the busy traffic for avoiding collisions.

I'm using AFCAD2 to do the job. I have a question: I'd like the tower to prefer the asphalt runway, and only afford that to prop-planes for takeoff and landing. But I'd like to add some gliders too, and want them to use only the grassy one. Is this possible? The runways are parallel to each other (left and right), and the grassy is much shorter, but still long enough for a Cessna to land on it.

Any suggestions?

And btw I'd like to force all prop-planes to park in the Northern (asphalt) area, and gliders to prefer the South (grassy) parking places. Is there any other solution than parking codes?

Runway preference:  The way FS9 ATC is set up, the only way to give priority to the asphalt runway for the powered aircraft is to put the parking for the powered aircraft on one side of the asphalt runway, the grass glider strip on the other side, and the gliders on the outside of the grass strip.  Since the asphalt runway will be closer to the powered aircraft parking spots, ATC will use the asphalt runway for powered take-offs and landings.  The gliders, being closer to the grass strip than the asphalt runway, will use the grass strip.

Parking:  If you line everything up (north to south) as powered aircraft parking spots, asphalt runway, grass strip, glider parking, you shouldn't have a problem.  If there is a problem, you can edit the parkingspecs.txt file in the AFCAD directory to make two unique parking codes (for example, MYGL for my gliders, and MYPA for my powered aircraft).

1.  Assign those codes to the appropriate spots.  Edit each line entry so ONLY the four-letter designator is used to identify who parks where.

2.  In the aircraft.cfg files for the powered aircraft and gliders, set atc_parking_codes= to one of those codes, depending on whether the .cfg file is for a glider or powered aircraft.  As long as there are unoccupied spots with the right designator, you should have gliders and powered aircraft mixed together.

OK, I'll use the parking codes then.
Thank you very much for the useful tips! I was reading it quite relieved, since I've done the lineup this way.   There's no connection between the glider parking and the asphalt runway, but the grassy one. Then everything should work fine. :D

Thing is working, I've made two trips so far, and I was always directed to the asphalt runway. :D
I haven't added the gliders yet.

Stick with it ..... and use Lee's help file, too; it's all in there.  (AFCAD main screen, top toolbar, HELP, then select Help in the drop-down menu that appears; that's the tutorial.)

As for glider traffic.

It can't be done unelss you make a custom aircraft with saaaaaay cessna flight dynamics (and so motor), with the glider exterior.

But then it's not a glider.

I heard about some AI gliders, which take off themselves, then start doing circles to get higher and higher. OK, not as a real glider does, but it's better, than a simple plane converted to some glider-exterior.

Look at the first linked topic in this section; the link to the page AFCAD v2.21 is on is in that pinned topic.  It's the last item on the linked page.
